What should I expect on a Sunday morning?

On Sunday mornings, we gather as a community diverse in gifts, passions, ages, and experiences. We sing, we join at the Lord's table for communtion, we have strong discipleship for all our kids, we open God's word together, and we pray.

The purpose of our gatherings is to renew us in the hope of Jesus and to equip us to use our God-given gifts to bless others where we live, work, and play. We gather regularly on Sunday mornings, in the tradition of those first followers of Jesus who found his tomb empty on a Sunday morning and worshiped. Join us at 10am till 11:30am on any Sunday morning at 3210 E Airport Way. Parking is available on the street near our building and parking lot located about 200 ft northwest of the building.

What does LBCF believe?

We believe Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, the Son of God; these truths are revealed in the Holy Bible; the Scriptures join with God’s revelation of Himself in His Messiah and in His Creation; the Gospel is the full message of His salvation and restoration; the Church is constituted of all those who have believed and received the Gospel; the Church is constituted of all those who have believed and received the Gospel; the fullness of the Holy Spirit is the fountainhead of the Church’s capacity for witness and ministry; and according to the Scriptures, the end of all things is at hand.

Where does LBCF stand on LGBTQ affirmation?

LBCF has an affirming theological view of LGBTQ+ individuals and relationships.

To have an affirming theology means that LGBTQ+ people and straight cisgender people are equally part of God’s beautiful creation and loved by God. It is an unqualified invitation to our LGBTQ+ siblings to participate fully in the life of the church, including weddings/marriages, membership, and leadership positions. It is to say that LGBTQ+ people, their roles in the community, and their relationships are affirmed as equal to straight and cisgender peers.

Our affirming stance allows for generous hospitality and fellowship toward those who hold different perspectives at LBCF. We are a community that comes from different backgrounds and traditions and land in different places in our interpretations of Scripture. We celebrate that the table of Christ is wide and varied and we choose our unity in Him. We navigate with loving, gracious partnership the differences in belief, and include people of different theological perspectives at all levels of leadership while safeguarding and espousing the dignity and belovedness of LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

We are in process of also creating a document that outlines LBCF’s history in this conversation and will post it and announce when it is ready.

What do I do with my kids?

We have an amazing Children’s Ministry pastor, Ms. Mary Dorsett, who is excited to meet you and your kids. She and her team will walk alongside you as you parent and disciple your children to learn to live and love like Jesus. If you have older kids, our Middle School & High School Youth Champions create spaces where all students are welcome.  Through time spent together in weekly gatherings, volunteer opportunities and fun activities together we desire for students to grow deeper in their relationship with each other and with God. To learn more visit our Children’s Ministry page, Middle School page, or High School page.

How is LBCF involved in the city?

LBCF seeks the shalom of the city where we live, work, and play. This means we equip and disciple the community to participate and partner with organizations in our city that are also seeking the shalom of the city in their context. To find a list of our local and international partners see our Missional Development Ministry page.

What is LBCF’s response to COVID-19?

LBCF will continue to follow the guidelines of our local government and the Center for Disease Control and will update our plan of action as the situation progresses. Out of an abundance of caution and following local government guidelines, we began a phased approach to reopening the building starting May 2nd, 2021 with outdoor patio worship and indoor worship which began on June 13th. We keep our vision of the health of the whole body at the forefront, not just parts or subsets of our community so we will continue to live stream all gatherings and provide various opportunities for connection. To read more about our reopening plans visit our Back to LBCF page.
